Hi, my name is Joel

But around these parts, I’m known as Big J. When I turned 13, I joined a school band where they taught me to play the trumpet, trombone, tuba, and drums. My passion for music grew from there. At 18 years old, I dabbled in radio announcing. I freelanced for various stations, but found that what made me happiest was making people dance through DJ’ing or MC’ing. This was something that quickly helped me gain traction as a respected entertainer in local nightclubs such as St Mick’s, Area 51, or Island Jamaica. Now I bring the music and fun to the party for everyone as Big J.

 Some facts about Me

music in my soul

I’ve always been passionate about music. As a young boy of 5, I began picking out notes on the piano by ear. Soon after, my parents noticed my natural talent and enrolled me in music lessons to further hone this skill. But I was determined to explore more than just classical music; as soon as I was old enough, he picked up the guitar and started playing it too!

I did it my way

I wanted a different crowd to share my love of music. So when an entertainment company offered me an entertaining job as a guest at weddings and quinceañeros, I couldn’t resist! My MC-DJ capabilities slowly gained notoriety among event coordinators who kept asking for more parties with me behind the mic and decks!

BIG J IS BORN
